Joke

Little Freddy was in primary school and the teacher asked the pupils what their fathers did for a living. The usual answers came up: police, lawyer, firefighter, fisherman, doctor and so on... But little Freddy who usually was most active and the biggest talker in the class sat silent. The teacher thought this was strange and asked him whether he too didn't want to tell the class what his father did.
- My dad is an erotic gogo dancer in a gaypub. There he takes all his clothes off and dances naked in front of a bunch of men who pay him. If they pay him really good he goes home with them.
The teacher didn't know what to say and took Freddy out in the corridor while the rest of the class stayed behind drawing.
- Is that really true Fredrick?
- No, answered Freddy full of shame, but my father playes soccer for West Ham...

Christmas In GayBay

So now the day is here, the day that everyone has waited for. It is quite strange having christmas eve with no children in the house, quite relaxed and noone is too excited. Well my father is I think. I am now in the small town where he lives and it's always so strange and relaxing coming here. I think I will have three presents under the tree this year, and I am happy for that.

Happy Yule everyone!

Girls Giggle And Boys Hiuk!

I was sitting today in Prikið buying a ticket to Sweden next January. On the next table five young men were sitting and talking about the things young boys talk about. You know when young women talk the giggle a lot, these boys were "hiuking"! The soung that Disney's Goofy makes, thats the gossip laughter that young men make when talking about cars and computers. I have never realized how irritating young men can be in groups and I hope I don't make that awful sound myself. Jahérna!!

Like A Cow On Ice

Last night Reykjavík looked like someone was spreading feathers all over the streets, the snow flakes were enormous and heavy and made a nice white carpet over the city. The snowing didnt last too long though, a short time later the snow became rain and everything went slisky and slabby. This morning I went out to find all that slisk and slab frosen. I don't cry though no my strange imagination just made me smile because the icelanders now look like they are about to burst into tapdance every now and then and then seem to decide that maybe tap-dance wasn't appropriate and start to walk regularly. I have had so much fun walking downtown today.

I heard somewhere that tapdance was invented so that you could drink your beer while dancing... hmmm?

Happy Hollidays For Everyone

Why don't we all just stop behaving like headless hens in December and stop this madness that is going on.

Lets give real presents this year as well as the thoughtless ones that are just stupid. Why not give blood? Or old clothes to the needy? My friend Kolbrún once gave all her teddybears to the childrens hospital. I am going to skip christmas presents to my friends and give some money to children who are ill and need it more than my friends.

The Hollidays have gone to far I think, let's fight back and bring some joy to the world.

I am almost shy to post this, it is too corny I think but here we go...

Happy Harry With A Red Nose

I have started one more bad habit again, yesterday I forgot my computergame at work and what was I supposed to do? In front of me on the desktop of my laptop there was 4 computerized copies of Harry Potter 1-4. So now I am starting again.

We had a staff meeting tonight in Kringlan and it was brilliant, staff meetings can help your menthal health, I really needed one tonight. Yesterday I ran out of the café in anger and calmed myself reading the big book about dragons. Hope the staff (including me) will work better together from now on, KOMA SVO!

The actor Björn Ingi Hilmarsson became my favourite cappuccino-customer today when he grabbed a spoonful of chocolate to put over his cappuccino but put it back into the chocolate glass when he saw what a beautiful pattern I had made!

Friday is the red nose day people and the HIV/AIDS day too. Be red and kind to those who need it!

Mútta Krútta

Today my mother gets just a little bit further from the age 25 than yesterday. I genes she has done quite well in spreading them over the world. Her children live here and there and everywhere and still we manage to meet all together once in a while. Sadly I haven't got a date for the next time I'll see her but hopefully soon.

Til hamingju með afmælið mamma!

P.S. I made this picture last spring... and now the bag mum has on her shoulder is mine! She gave it to me and I use it every day!

Thinking Of You

Happy birthday yesterday Amý amma, miss you.

Thursday, 16 November 2006

Frau Sigrún Edmund here, welcome to my den of brainmeats! Guest blogging. Watching Herr Sandra closing, fun fun fun.... (memo to self: give Erling a genuine german name.... maybe this is the long lost Olaf?.... just saying....) Wonder about the trick of light abused by far to fagg-ish christmas decoration of the icelandic mall, silvery glitterthings break light into the basic colors (proof of formerly mentioned accusation of decoration being fagg-ish? I give you exhibit A: colors consist of all of gay-pride colors, that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue and finally purple), I believe the officials of mall want to cover their not-obviously-enough straight liberal asses by exaggerating the color red in said fagg-ish glitterboat... f-ing communists....

Might I titillate thine kittenloving inner child? One poor little cat (obese, wide eyed and neurotic) needs a home, wicked witch of the green (sorry mum) does not care for said feline and wants to evict him so i ask you dear reader... do you want a widdle kitty? ;D Come ooooon.... Come OOOOON......!

Hmmm.... must remember to feed pigmy in living room, he seems a bit pekish... silly midget.

Sugarcubes!!

This friday the Sugarcubes will have a consert in fabulous freezing Reykjavík... Allthough I shouldn't go because of future plans and dreams... I still bought a ticket and am going... might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Last night me and two friends made pictures on t-shirts, wow! The t-shirts are so cool!

I think costumers are more friendly to baristas and other people in service jobs if the baristas+ are wearing their own clothes. Today the costumers were actually nice many of them... it was too cold to wear the Kaffitár t-shirts so we were all wearing our own jumpers... maybe people were just to cold to be evil.

It Is Time...

I finally pushed myself out of bed at 12.34 this morning happy about being off work and took the Heidi-jump-walk down to freezing 101 Reykjavík (not the hotel).

When the town was reached I had to decide where to go,... I wanted either a good coffee, ginger ale or a nice fruit smoothie. Hljómalind used to be my favourite café but now they have incense (reykelsi) which I am allergic to and cannot stay in there without being dizzy and have a sore throat. My next choice was Kaffitár Bankastræti,... guess what christmas is getting closer and they have lit the vanilla scented coffee candle so no more Bankó for me this year. The stupid Þrallur went to Kaffitár in the National Gallery after that hoping that they had no vanilla candle there and of course it was closed, most galleries are closed on Mondays here. Kaffitár in the National Museum flew away from my mind as well since that is also closed on Mondays.

So now I was so hungry that I just stormed into the next bakery, had a ostaslaufa and then ran through Bankó grabbed a regular coffee to go, with two icecubes, ran out again and straight to Babalú sipped some coffee, threw the cup away and went in.

Now I am sitting in Babalú with a glas of orange juice... they were out of both their awesome smooties and the ginger ale...

I guess this is just not my day! haha! I think the icelandic Amelie needs to move again...

Immune

November is here again and this year I don't feel the usual hate and anger when I see the christmas decoration popping up everywhere in the shops. Kringlan is fully decorated and Hagkaup too but I don't care, christmas decoration has lost it's meaning for me, i am totally immune. I don't know whether the hatred for early christmas songs has faded that we wil know in three weeks.

This weekend we celebrated Héðinn at work because he is now finally 20 years old and can buy his own alcohol at bars and stores. His party had the theme "Héðinn" and it was quite fun, I realized that we dress quite similar just different colours and I never wear shirts. I just dressed up in my own clothes, a cardigan that Gregor left in Iceland and a big black afro-wig (couldn't find any blond lightly wavy ones)

This weekend Reykjavík had a storm and it was just crazy walking outside, I was wet everywhere and my window at home cried all night, Eeeeeeeh!

More later...

Non Smoker

I haven't started to smoke even though I am holding a cigarette on the picture below. Just wanted to tell everyone that. People are also asking me a lot about my hair. I actually like it as it is and tend on keeping in short for a while. Other things happening in my life... I really dream about more tattoos and maybe an innocent piercing in my ear, nothing to big just something that symbolizes me... Mjöllnir... or maybe My Little Pony?? haha!

WEATHER/WETHER/WHETHER

The climate is made up of “weather”; whether it is nice out depends on whether it is raining or not. A wether is just a castrated sheep.

And Here Are The Finalists In No Specific Order...

One day at work, two days before I went to London for a trip to get my things I left in Cambridge, two boys at the age of nine came into the café and begun asking me while I was serving a man whether they could have this and that for free, constantly interrupting me and also asking whether I sell porn magazines. I stopped the serving and told them to get out of the café which they finally did. The walls around Kaffitár in Kringlan are none, we just have a fence, the boys went over to a female costomer and begun tlaking to her and then spat into her cappuccino, she asked them what was wrong with them and then they spat into her hair and went away... they spat on that lady that was just sitting there drinking her coffee! We called the security guards and they found the boys but let them go because the lady with the coffee had gone and they said that they hadn't done it. I am shaking of anger as I type this, how can anyone at that age be so cruel?

The next day, one day before my trip, I woke up early to go to the pool before work and on my way there my I see that I have a missed call from one of my friends, I call her back and I hear she is crying and I ask what is wrong and she tells me that her father passed away the previous day. I didn't know what to say, I just stopped and thought what the fuck do I do in this situation? Hug her? No of course not she is in the other end of town! So I tried my best to be calm and comforting. We hanged up later and I could have a quick dip in the hot tub and then I ran to work. Now I was angry, sad, excited, happy and totally excausted of all those feelings. I tried to tell my co-staff that I would be tuff to work with and apologised in advance for all the things I would say or do. At one time poor Haffi was talking to me as I was making a cappuccino and I felt my anger building up inside me and I told him he had to quietly walk away because I couldn't handle listening to him or anyone... that I was about to throw something at him. He was very understanding and did as I said and I had to curse the milk instead of my lovely innocent co-worker.

Finally the day came and I woke up early, went to work at 8.30am and had a strange halfday just witing for dear Halli, the coffee driver, to drive me to the airport. The clock finally said two doings and we drowe south to the airport. I think we had a of fun on our trip Halli and Ii, we talked about sexualities, the grass nipples that appear on top of small hills and all kinds of strange things that come up into you mind on the road of death.

Sunday Again

In a life of doing hardly anything but coffee all day your clothes become dirtier than the would usually,... Which means I have to visit people more often than usually,... I don't have a laundry mashine you see! Right now I am washing my clothes in my father's apartment in Reykjavík, very nice and you allways become so calm around family.

Pælings

I want to get some things out of my head, things that are making me crazy in the head!

The most irritating things at work are customers that are rude and impolite... and lipstick on the cup and/or chewing gum on the plate.

My friend is getting her nipple pierced and she can't decide which nipple to pierce. Should she pierce the bigger or the smaller breast. Would the smaller breast look bigger with a piercing or would it just stress that it is smaller? I say that she should think about the story Cinderella. Cinderella never got anything she had no nice clothes and noone saw her... one day she got a beautiful rich boyfriend and got so much attention which she deserved after being so left out for all her life. I say: Let the smaller breast get some love and a ring!!

Terrorism

The difference between a terrorist and a "good leader" is the fact that the terrorist kills himself and the people he does not like to protest but the "good leader" kills sends his people to kill his enemies and maybe the people die during that. Am I right??

I also think that today a terroris attack was framed on the icelandic nature as the Kárahnjúkavirkjun was "opened". It is a huge damm in east Iceland, huge and ugly, lets all sit dowm for a moment and think about the furure when Iceland will have scars like this all over and nothing we can say or do will stop it.

12.000 icelanders walked down from Hlemmur to Austurvöllur to protes this the day before yesterday. 12.000 is a lot of people and one asks oneself who owns the country? The "good leaders" or the people or maybe we just dont have the rights to do this at all, who can own a country?? Þrallur says:

Go Iceland!!

Baldur's Gate

I hardly dare to say this, but I bought my old favourite computer game again, the computer game that held me indoor two whole summers six years ago. The game is called Baldur's Gate (Baldur skeit) and is so catching and fun that I think that the money that I spent on the game will soon grow into savings since I won't go out at all in the nearest future... no beers and no sweets!

My Reminder

My oldest niece Anna Bára will allway remind me of my age, the closer she gets to the teens the further away from the teenager years I get. Allthough I am still young, Anna Bára always reminds me of that some day I will not be young anymore... I will allways be young in my mind though. Anna Bára is twelve years old today, happy birthday!

Gay Pride 2006 (last part)

Ok time to finnish... next gay pride is coming soon, haha!!!

On the evening of the Saturday I hitched a ride from Skálholt and went to the Pride Dance at Nasa. The Pride Dance is always at Nasa and is always so much fun, loads of people and loads of happiness and loads of alcohol. I went home when the cleaners arrived and sang all the way home...

Next day there was a soccer game, gay men against lesbians... gay men won and...

Then gay pride was over!

Gay Pride 2006 (second part)

Gleðilega hátíð!

That was the right greeting on this special saturday the 12th of August in Reykjavík. I woke up at lunch, had a shower took my nicest clothes and put them in a bag and ran out of the hommúna. I stopped for a few seconds at Hlemmur where all the Pride floats were piled up and ready to roll down Laugarvegur at 2pm. After that quick look I ran to Kringlan bought some pins so I could make my trousers fit in the wedding of the Huus. Yes the Huu couple got married on Gay Pride day... that was a mistakk though because they thought it would be the weekend after. Anyway Me, Marta, Kristín, Sigrún Jóna and Sibbi went driving to Skálholt where the wedding would take place. The Huus were so beatiful, mr Huu had a hat and staff and mrs. Huu had a 60's hairstyle. The wedding was both boring and sweet(just like it is supposed to be). The party after on the other side was so great. loads of food and wine and speeches and wine... The Coffee-people made a speech and had much fun in the wedding, and the rest of the guests loved us!!...

Reykjavík Gay Pride 2006 (first part)

Wow this has been a long weekend and much to tell about. Let's start with wednesday...

Wednesday evening I ran home sweatty from work to take a quick shower and run along to the National Theatre Cellar to see the Icelandic Drag Competition. The competition was fine and fun but it would have been nicer to have some more participants, there were four drag queens and only three drag kings. The drag queen of the year was the fabulous Aurora Borealis and the son of a trash mum Dóri Mokk was the drag king of 2006.

Thursday Gregor came to town and we went out in the evening to a Eurovision party along with Árni and Jómbi from the Hommúna, the party started at 11 pm and finished at 1 am, I did not like that, especially because the doorman thought it would be until 2 am and they took 1000kr in the door!! We finished the short evening with a trip to Café Cozy.

Gay Pride was formally started on Friday. The big opening was in Loftkastalinn with loads of scetches and music performances. The one thing that was more fab than the others were of course Ruth and Vigdís the norwegian drag queens. They are not only fantastic and fabulous, they are also the most funny!! After the opening ceremony there was free beer from Vífilfell and I still have a few in my fridge that i took in take-away!

Later that evening there were guys and girls parties, the only dress code for the guys party was to have been born with a penis or having put one on later with a surgery... no girls allowed!! So much fun we had dancing around like mad-men, met loads of old friends from school and before I moved away from Iceland...

Dull Day Doris

Where is the spirit that makes me write like a madman??

Just as I was writing that, Heiddi Huu came to me at Kaffitár and gave me a kiss on the cheek and left instantly! Was he the spirit?... Lets try it out...

As I write these words the Verslunarmannahelgi(bankhollidayweekend) just runs away from the unplanned Barista con Pene, Árni my withliver is in Bulgaria with the poofs. Gregor is up on Hekla, Dofri is 34, and the rest I don't know. The only thing I know is that I am unplanned and have a raging hangover with a headache and everything!! I am getting old!

Just now a girl from a country far, far away came and asked me to write the pictures in her camera on a CD, I said no problem and that was the good deed for the day. Thrallur you are such a saint!!

Iceland Iceland In My Heart... At The Moment

All Right! Now I have been in Reykjavík for a week, have still not had any friend dates, have just been attending stuff I was made to do, haha. I lost my phone before moving to UK but have the same number and lack many of the numbers that were in my phonebook. So if please if someone wants to grab a coffee... not while I'm working! Please call and we'll do something.

On friday I went to a farewell party for Dússý and we met at Ölver the Karaoke place. Some have heard me sing and others haven't, but those who have don't like it... I decided though to sing a sond and chose My Ding-a-ling with Chuck Berry. Haha it was so funny, love that song.

Yesterday I went to see the SigurRós consert on Miklatún in Reykjavík, brilliant! We were 15.000 people in the audience, Not bad for a country like Iceland, huh?!?

Stockholm From An Alternative Point Of View

At noon on the Saturday after NUTU the icelanders went by taxi to Helsinki to wait for our planes to take us away from Finland. I was on my way to Sweden early on the Sunday and the rest were heading home to Iceland so we decided to skip sleep and party instead of having to pay for hotel. We rented a room near down town and kept all of our luggage there. The idea we had was very cool but we were a bit to tired to be jolly and party all night... so we sat a lot and danced a few times mostly to not fall asleep.

We came back to the hotel at 4.30 am, got taxis to the airport where we all fell asleep on benches while waiting for the planes to depart. Not fun at all! Einý one of the icelanders had lost her suitcase on the way to Finland so she took one of my heavy ones, what a life saver! I slept the whole flight, arrived to Stockholm a bit funny looking and gulped two Coca Cola to keep myself going because the fun was about to start again. My swedish NUTU-friend Amanda was going to give me a little guided tour around the city. We went to one of her favourite cafés had a vegan smoothie and a muffin down by the water and saw all kinds of alternative shops and cafés. Stockholm isn’t as “luemmoe”(lummó) as I thought, it is actually pretty cool... not a place for me to live though.

In the afternoon I took a train to Norrköping to meet mum and my little brother Magnús, mum had moved to Magnús’ small but cosy flat one week earlier. In his flat we all stayed that night, very nice... for one night at least, the apartment is tiny! My younger older witch sister Birna came on the Monday with her two daughters Anna Bára and Freyja all the way from Sollerön. That night mum and the three girls slept in mum’s nice new apartment. It was so nice to see them all again they are all so cool and lovely and horrible in their own ways. Sometimes I think I have the most strange family in the whole wide world, but nowadays people are allowed to be strange so we are becoming more and more medium!! Haha!!

Monday night I went to see David a a nice lagom-strange boy from Åby a little suburbtown of Norrköping and we had a few ciders and a few beers down town, it was very nice and we had a lot to talk about, maybe too much because I was comlpetely pissed when I finally found my way to Magnús’ place and fell asleep instantly.

Tuesday mum went early to work as usual. At lunch me, Magnús, Birna and her girls went with the bus to Söderköping where mum´s former house lays. We went to her house and packed everything we saw and recognised as her belongings. The only one of us that had ever seen the house before was Magnús. When we had packed for four and a half hour mum and a friend of the family Guðjón came with a small moving truck which we filled twce and got mum out of her old horrible nonlife and into her new and hopefully enjoyable life. Thats nothing that concerns my blog so lets move on...

Wednesday David picked me up in his parents convertable car and we went to Åby to swim in a lake... very swedish! Birna told me before that this summer so many people had drowned in lakes all over Sweden, that didn’t scare me, then David told me that this particular lake had had unusually many snakes this summer and that people had seen quite a lot of them swimming around the bathing people. That didn’t scare me either so I ended up as a real swede swimming around in a freezing lake! Beat that icelanders!... David if you ever come to Iceland I will show you where “Davíð bought his beer” (haha I didn’t realise that your name is in the saying until I had started to write it!) and take you to the hot springs! Noone in Iceland would ever swim in a cold lake! But it was very fun and refreshing, the weather in Sweden and Finland has been horrible, sun and too hot day after day. As Gríma says GLATAÐ!

After that day I have just been relaxing with the family until now where I sit in a train on my way to Stockolm. Tonight I am going to the night club boat Patricia and tomorrow...

Tomorrow Thor goes to ICELAND!

Sweden

So tonight is the last night in Finland for now at least, the icelandic NUTU group is going out in Helsinki and tomorrow we leave the country.

The others go to Iceland but I will only take a short trip over the sea to Sweden to visit mum. She is lucky because she is moving and needs a "strong macho" man to help her.

On the 24th of July I will continue my trip and fly to Iceland where I will work for a while at Kaffitár...

Over

NUTU is now over... except for the buhu ceremony where everyone weaps their eyes out. I am getting so used to good-byes that I only cry on the very very sad ones, oh my, tonight will be so boring!

Gríma writes.........

Well well well........what to write? I don´t normaly wright on other people´s pages, especially in English......as you can maybe see!!

I´m just sitting here in Finnland by the computer trying to think of something to write but I can´t think of anything. How pathetic is that though? I have nothing better to do in Finnland but sit by the computer and blog on other peoples pages, just becouse I have already blogged to much on my own. GLATAD!!

Jaeja, that´s that then! I´m not feeling inspired right now.

Thank you Thórhallur, for giving me something to do for few minuets.........it was fun! LOvE yoU!!

Sweat!!

Now I have been in Finland for 11 days, the weatther is so dry and warm, just killing me. The school itself is great though, I have had two fantastic subjects and even more fantastic teachers. Last week I had trans masks with a teacher called Max, we used half masks and went into a "trans" where you become the mask you see. The masks we became were very simple, they were seeing the world for the first time, exploring the world and learning how to swallow. It was an amazing feeling and you do things you wouldn't do usually... like drewling and crying for example.

This week I have world music with a teacher called Kaarle, he is a young looking finnish man who has 4 children under the age of 10 and his wife is going to give birth to their 5th child on "thursday" this week, beat that! He lets us sing, dance and play instruments, very nice indeed.

Unfinished Story

I have been about to finish the story of me and Magnús and here it comes...

On a very sunny day we decided to go to London, woke up at 10am took the 11.15 train to Kings Cross and headed straight to the tube. Our first destination was the Queen's palace. We took some pictures and continued towards our next goal. We went to look for Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and had a quick lunch on the way. Madame Tussauds is just fabulous, wow, it even had a Big Brother Diary Room where our picture was taken(have I told you that I love Big Brother?).

After the wax museum we went to see Big Ben on the way to the London Eye. London Eye is very interesting but I think that if you go one time you don't need to go again. Once again we took the tube and went to see the homosexuals and the hookers in Soho, Brynja the Au Pair came and joined us there and we had a coke. Magnús wanted to see the Tower Bridge so we took a double decker there and walked over the huge bridge. By then the time was 10pm and we had to rush for Kings Cross to catch the train home.

The last thing we did in the big city was to take a photo of Magnús running into platform 9 3/4. We took the 11.15 train back to Cambridge. I seriously doubt that anyone has done as much of tacky tourist things during one day in London before...

Go Thor and Maggi!!!

Hot Sunday Morning

The first day of Maggi's holliday in Cambridge, we sweated and sweated, bought some allergy-tablets, bottled water and shorts for Maggi (size 12-year old (I actually use size 14-year old)). We walked allover town seeing the river Cam, the punts, red mail boxes, so many churches and old colleges. When we came home we watched Super-size Me and Maggi fell asleep at 2pm and slept until 6pm. In the evening Maggi got a taste of the UK Big Brother and we ate swedish style korvstroganoff.

Day two we walked even further had a pizza in the Cow for lunch and had barbecue and watched Big Brother Eviction where the transgender Sam got evicted from the Big Brother house, poor Sam. A 43 year old model came in instead with fake lips and plastic tits. There are now 7 women in the house and only two of them have 100% natural boobs! Isn't that amazing?

Yesterday was Saturday and we were determined to punt finally, I have lived here for 6 months now and never tried it. A punt is a kind of gondola, one stands on the back of the punt with a large stick pushing the punt forward up or down the river. Very much fun! First Gregor punted for a while... then I tried and I can admit that I a not a naturual but I learnt the basics. Maggi was next and he got us forward right away no problems but then the stick got stuck in the mud, he lost the balance and fell overboard! Haha it was very funny but unfortunatelly he was wearing all his outfit, a sports top, a t-shirt, pants and shorts. All wet and I stripped down to my swimming trunks and lent him my shorts. We stopped later for lunch before punting back, and by then we were all sun burnt and Maggi dying of hay fever, his eyes red as hell!

In the evening we went to the cinema seeing X-men 3, wow I loved it, not at all what I expected!!

Today sunday we are just chilling before going to the pool and I am so sunburnt I can hardly move!

Eurovision-Weekend In Reykjavík

I want to say sorry to those I didn't have the chance to say hi to during my weekend in Reykjavík. The original idea to come this weekend to Iceland was that Gregor wanted to see how crazy icelanders are about the copetition. I will just have to hire a car this summer and drive around and say hi.

We watched the semi final here at home in Cambs and poor Silvía noone understands her like I do!! She came in 13th place though. After the competition we ran to the train station to catch the train to Gatwick airport south of London. We arrived there about 2am in the morning and had to sleep on a bench until we could check in at 7am.

We landed in Keflavík 10am and went straight to Árni's new apartment where we stayed the whole weekend. On the friday we took it easy went to the swinning pool, ate and went to bed early. On the saturday I went to work in Kaffitár because of the World Barista Championship, wow it was heavenly to work there again, `B´ is a job, Kaffitár is a lifestyle! Meanwhile Gregor went to a gay Eurovision brunch and then the swimming pool and bookstores I think. After work we went to a Eurovision Party where we watched the competition. I am glad Finland wow and I am also glad I don´t live in Iceland at the moment because it will be played all summer there. Around Midnight we went to Nasa where Páll Óskar was the DJ and played Eurovision songs all night... We also got to see live Gleðibankinn, Lífið er Lag, Minn Hinsti Dans, Nína, All out of Luck and If I had your Love. Fabulous!! Probably 1/3 of Nasa that night were Poofs and Dykes that is amazing!

Now we areback and no newspapers have told anything about Finland winning and noone at work saw the competition, what is wrong with people??

Letters

Last week I got two strange letters...

1.) The first letter was from my dad. It was sent the day before my birthday so the letter took two weeks from Iceland (I sent a letter to Iceland and it arrived two days later!) Inside this letter from dad was a postcard from my mum. She sent it from the Santa Clause Land in Sollerön Sweden March 2005. That postcard came to Iceland a little before Christmas 2005 and then dad sent it to me in April 2006. 14 months it took to arrive, almost like a message in a bottle. I think it took so long from Sweden because the Santa Land mail probably is meant for Christmas cards so they send it only once a year. Mum was so sad last spring because it didn´t arrive.

2.) The second letter was from Edinburgh College of Art... They don´t want to offer me a place, but what the F! I am still young and maybe I´ll find something more fun next year. Don´t feel sorry for be because I am not sad!

Yes I Am A Harry Potter Nerd!

I was just thinking what a funny couple Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin is, she is a metamorphmagus and he a werewolf, she can look like any human being, if he fancies J-Lo today... no problem! And he is very understaning when she has her period because his monthly thing is even worse!

This summer I am going to NUTU summer school again, last year it was in the Faeroe Islands, this year in Finland. Wonder what I will learn this year...

Trans America

I had a day off last Sunday and we went to the cinema to see Trans Ammrica. I expected a trashy movie about a drag queen or something else very american... but no this movie was great!

The main character is a transsexual woman, Bree, who still is a technically a man, her final operation is a week away and her psychiatrist just signed the papers saying that she is ready to take the final step towards being a woman. She gets a phone call from a New York jail saying that there is a 17 year old boy who claims to be Stanley's son is in jail for stealing. Bree's former name is Stanley and the psychiatrist refuses to give her the letter unless she is completely free from worries... She needs to go and find out whether she really is a father.

This movie is funny, sad, interesting, teaching and Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewifes is so good in it... See it!!

Reach Out and Touch Thor.

Edinburgh

Last Wednesday as you know I went to Edinburgh for my interview at the Edinburgh College of Art. On the evening of the Tuesday me and Gregor went to the local student gay night, where most of `B´ were celebrating Jess' 22nd birthday. On midnight I stormed in and took over as the new birthday child, I got two free sparkling wines and a bunch of kisses. We danced a little, the window dryers, the fax mashine, salt and pepper, the granny breast dance, the finger dance,...

The next morning I woke up at 5.30 to catch the train to Stansted Airport and then took a plane to Edinburgh. The weather in Edinburgh was amasing, sun and very warm, and I had four hours before I had my interview to just look at the city. I every souvenir shop there was bagpipe music and everywhere you can by the Loch Ness monster and kilts. The Edinburgh Castle is something worth too see as well, wow, looks like Hogwarts would look with less magic.

At two my interview started and took about 15 minutes, it didn´t go as I had prepared but I hope I did well anyway, they came out and took my portfolio and came to get me 5 minutes later. I had prepared a kind of tour through the portfolio to explain everything, but when I came in they had allready seen everything and just wanted to talk. Well, well if I don´t get in then I just have to try again next year!

After the interview I walked around Edinburgh again until my flight home. Gregor and Agathe came to fetch me at the airport in Agathe's new Mercedes Benz and we had some birthcake and sparklingwine when at home.

That was my 23rd birthday! Not the best I've had but not the worst either.

This Is The Age Of The Thor.

Hair

I am of now to have my hair cut, the place I am going to is called Hairy Canary (it rymes when you say it, not Hairy Kanarí like I used to say).

And what a great coincident because the movie/play of the week is my favourite musical Hair. Hair is not about a hair saloon, no not at all, it is about shaggy weed-smoking hippies that enjoy love, sex and Rock & Roll. I wish I had been born 30 years earlier, I would have made such a good hippie! I can´t say much about Hair other than SUPERB!

Edinburgh tomorrow and the interview!!!!

Birthday, Answers And Stuff

A young Icelander came of age yesterday, that young man is my brother and he is stationed in Sweden. Now he can buy beer and cigarettes whith I am glad to say he hasn´t to much interest in, he is a man of honour and would proudly pick up arms to defend good against evil. Swedish people are lucky to have such a brave man watching over them!!

We will come to Iceland in May 19-22, yes, it is the Eurovision weekend, and I have allready been invited to a Eurovision party, but those who have time and want to see me can see me on Saturday-Daytime or Sunday, depending on when we will go to the Blue Lagoon and stuff. I´ll be back again in July to stay for maybe 2 months...

The beer question, they don´t warm up the beer... but there is a kind of beer that isn´t chilled so much and it is less fizzy. Thats called Ale or Bitter, it doesn´t taste so bitter though, it tastes like a apple beer, at least the one I have tried. In `B´ we only have one bitter and that is our own called Country Best. Best means that it is 4.1-4.7% there are three kinds, Session/Ordinary is up to 4%, then Best and finally Premium/Strong Bitter is 4.8% or over (also known as Extra Special Bitter, ESB).

Think Once, Think Twice, Think Thor.

Superstar

No not Jesus Crist Superstar, just Superstar...

This is the great movie of the week. It´s a story about unfortunate Mary Catherine Gallagher, who is a very uncool girl in a catholic nun school, all she dreams of is to get a kiss from the cool guy in the school and to become a superstar. Mary works in a video store rewidning videos, kisses trees and when she is nervous she sometimes puts her fingers in her armpits and then sniffs them! She knows all films and speaks in movie quotes. I love this movie, it is just hillareous and funny. A must see if you wanna be a Thor!

Thor. It's What's For Dinner.

Iceland might see me/us sooner than they thought they would...

Suit

I need to find some trousers and a nice jacket to use in my interview. But I really cannot make myself wear a suit, I would feel like lying to the person interviewing me. I wan´t the school to want ME. I have had a suit I liked, I liked it so much I wore it like everyday clothes and now it´s dead. It was pretty cheap as well. Oh mighty gods, help me find a new cheap really cool suit, yours sincerely... Thor... I am a god, I will help me, will walk around town like a guy with split personality talking to myself in my Thor the God voice and Thor the Barista will answer...

Honey We´re Killing The Kids

Am watching a TV show called, "Honey we're killing the kids"

The parents see how the children will look at the age of 40 if they keep on feeding them sweets, lack of sleep, loads of tv and second hand smoking. Usually the parents cry and do whatever to fix this. The children complain at first but after a while they usually love it, having more time with their parents and less fat on their bellies.

The point I am getting to is the quit smoke point. The parents glue a picture of the child under the ashtrays (the ashtray is transparent(gegnsær)) and put them out in the home and whenever they want a smoke they have to put the ash on the faces of the children...

Pretty good way to stop smoking, eh??

Thor, not included.

Latte Art

Oh, I made the most beautiful milk flower in a coffee at work today, I should have had my camera, oh, I must do it again sometime!!

The spring is in the air at `B´, two new couples in the staff...

Other news are... none... well my cold is getting better, I am listening a lot to Jack Johnson and I sketch like a maniac in my sketch book, hurray for me!!!!

Video-Marathon

In the last three days me and Gregor have been very Icelandic and rented 4 movies, eaten chocolate and ice cream. The movies are The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, Broken Flowers, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Meet The Fockers...

The Focker movie reminded me of Birna, hehe, Asssssh Hoooole, such a funny but embarassing film.
The Cuckoo movie is hard to spell but such a masterpiece!! Would be cool to watch that one, Girl Interrupted and Englar Alheimsins in one go.
The Hitchhiker one mmde me more longing to reed the book than before, think it could be just the book for me!
Finally the Flower movie, it was very good, funny and ended suddenly without giving you the answer to the big question that the movie is all about. Good movie for those who need thinking.

I have found the fixer for all mind dilemmas finally, my cousin Ásgeir showed it to me a while ago but I have just occationally used it until this week, I look up everything on Wikipedia now, if I don´t understand a movie or wanna know more about anything I just use Wikipedia, it has everything and the cool thing is that you can put your own thoughts and knowledge there as well!!

Have Thor Your Way.

Naughty, But Thor

I found this cool slogan web page which I will use whenever I am in difficulty of finding a name for my new blog entry!

Also, I was loading some pictures from my camera and this is one of them, a pissoar in Soho, London, it is in front of a bar there and guys can jump from the queue for a quick wee, keeps the street urinfree! Cool eh??

When you come to Britain... I didn´t think about this before but you really have to taste all the drinks they offer:

Lager Tops: A lager beer, for example Fosters, with a dash of lemonade on the top. I thought it must be horrible but it is kinda nice.

Lager Shandy: Half lemonade and half a lager.

Spritzer: Half white wine, half soda water or lemonade.

Pimm's: The super duper secret drink Pimm's 50ml in a glass filled up with lemonade and bits of cucumber, orange, lemon and mint. A summer drink.

Well just put lemonade in whatever and give it a silly name and then it is British!

Super Thor is Almost Here.

Home From Work

I didn´t go to work today, I have a terrible cough, for a week already and finally I decided it isn´t getting any better and the smoky atmosphere at `B´ isn´t really helping either. Gregor has made me soup and tea and giving me loads of drugs so I´ll be well in notime now that he is back from Shetland.

By the way... I have gotten an interview in the Edinburgh School of Art on the 19th of April, cool eh? I am using my day off to plan my portfolio that I will bring with me. I hope I will be able to talk about the things I want to, I am very bad at vocabulary still, but I can always draw! Hehe!

Edward Scissorhands

This is the film of the week that explains the madness of my mind. It is a film by Tim Burton about a man that was made by a lonely inventor, he died before Edward was finished and left Edward alone with scissors instead of fingers. Edward lives all by himself in the inventors black, scary castle until a woman comes and finds him and brings him to her suburban home, where he finds out that he isn´t that strange.

I don´t only like the film because of the strange fantasy-like story but also the artwork and the colours, Edward and the castle are scary looking, gothic and black while the town and its people are all very colourful, popart-ish and full of fashion.

It is the same with Amélie except that movie is full of colours, especially red and green, mainly I guess because there is no sadness in Amélie

The Worlds Youngest KISS Fan

Tinna´s 10th birthday was last Sunday!! She is a 10 year old girl, but she likes to listen to KISS the rock group, isn´t that cool!!

I don´t dare to put a picture here unless with aprove so it just have to wait...

Viva School

Last friday I finally sent in my school application. Am trying to get into advertising design or theatre design. The theatre design sounds more fun but I am sure the other one is just as fun...

Talking about fun, went as I told to Viva Cake, it was hillarious, almost EVERYONE had a costume and it was like coming into the Grease movie, marvellous, the girls had a ponytail with a slight curl in it, a simple dress and a blouse, small socks and girly shoes. The guys had their jeans legs folded up, a shirt and braces... don´t fooget the brylcreme hair style like Elvis... Crazy!

Talking about crazy, I am going to start a movie of the week thing, so those who watch the fims can slowly get to know me and my thoughts, almost like diving into my thought-pensieve.

This weeks film is Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, I love this film and think I am quite like Amélie, I think too much sometimes and am hard to understand at all times.
