Wow this has been a long weekend and much to tell about. Let's start with wednesday...
Wednesday evening I ran home sweatty from work to take a quick shower and run along to the National Theatre Cellar to see the Icelandic Drag Competition. The competition was fine and fun but it would have been nicer to have some more participants, there were four drag queens and only three drag kings. The drag queen of the year was the fabulous Aurora Borealis and the son of a trash mum Dóri Mokk was the drag king of 2006.
Thursday Gregor came to town and we went out in the evening to a Eurovision party along with Árni and Jómbi from the Hommúna, the party started at 11 pm and finished at 1 am, I did not like that, especially because the doorman thought it would be until 2 am and they took 1000kr in the door!! We finished the short evening with a trip to Café Cozy.
Gay Pride was formally started on Friday. The big opening was in Loftkastalinn with loads of scetches and music performances. The one thing that was more fab than the others were of course Ruth and Vigdís the norwegian drag queens. They are not only fantastic and fabulous, they are also the most funny!! After the opening ceremony there was free beer from Vífilfell and I still have a few in my fridge that i took in take-away!
Later that evening there were guys and girls parties, the only dress code for the guys party was to have been born with a penis or having put one on later with a surgery... no girls allowed!! So much fun we had dancing around like mad-men, met loads of old friends from school and before I moved away from Iceland...
