Gay Pride

Wow, here I have a lot to say I think...

Me and Gregor were invited to take part in the Gay Pride float of FSS, it is the Association for Gay, Bi and Transgender Students in Iceland. We accepted it of course and helped as good as we could doing the float, which had the theme Gaydar, gaydar is the sixth sence helping homosexuals spotting each other without having to ask everyone in a bar before being able to hit on the person, we just know who is gay... well most of the time.

On the friday, the 5th of August, there was the big opening of the Pride and we went there with some friends and watched some great and some boring shows, mine and Gregor´s favourites were Namosh, a techno guy from Berlin and Ruth & Vigdis from Norway. Many thought that Ruth & Vigdis were some women in their fifties but no they were two guys maybe thirty or something, very good drag queens!!

After the opening there was a boys-only-party in Pravda, we went there and what a lousy DJ I had to drink a whole lot of Gin&Tonic before I could mmnage to dance to that awful "music" of his.

On the saturday, me and Gregor woke up rather early to get ready for the parade, we got t-shrts saying "I came out of the closet, I deserve a Thule!" and painted the gay flag on our cheeks, plus Gregor had the Shetland flag and I had the icelandic one as well.

The parade was fun, a lot of people took pictures and everyone was smiling and Reykjavík was full of love... The parade ended with a big show on a large scene with many artists, both hetero and homo, with 50-60.000 persons watching!! After the show we went home and slept until 10pm, got up and went to a pre-party before going to the big gay-dance in Nasa.

This weekend was superb, splendid and extraordinary!! Thank you very nice!
