Irish Confusion

How are you? (Hávaja)
-I'm grand! (Æm gräen)

That's how we greet each other here. We don't really say Hi! nope just Howaya? Starting to get used to it now.

Me and Scott and our friend Padraig (Porrek) went to the beautiful Glendalough for a walk. It rained for the whole time but that just made it prettier. It's an old monk place with beautiful surroundings, lakes and trees and stuff. A real must see in Ireland.

Irish names are never said the way they are spelled which makes me wonder how on earth children learn how to read here. My name is said as it is spelled more or less. While Pádraig, Gráinne, Micheál Eoin, Niahm, Sinéad and Orfhlaith are pronounced Porrec, Gronja, Mihaal, Oen, Nief, Shineyd and Orla. Very confusing for poor me who always thought the singer's name was just pronounced Sinead.
